ABOUT

Zev Cook has been a community organizer in Tacoma since 2018. Motivated by her Jewish values of community repair, she has worked with various direct aid and non-profit organizations and co-founded Serve the People Tacoma in 2021, providing over 10,000 meals and other supplies for homeless neighbors over two years.

Zev has also worked professionally as a shelter manager and case worker. These experiences highlighted the urgent need to change city policies to achieve housing justice for all. Later, Zev co-founded Tacoma for All and, in 2023, served as field manager for Tacoma for All’s Tenant Bill of Rights campaign and campaign manager for District 3 Council Member Jamika Scott. She played a leading role in achieving wins for both campaigns, leading a team of over 100 volunteers.

From 2021 to 2024, Zev served as an officer of the Tacoma Democratic Socialists of America, helping to organize the community around working-class priorities. In 2024, Zev worked in the produce department at Safeway as a member of United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 367. As a continuing Tacoma for All steering committee member, she partnered with UFCW 367 to help build Tacoma’s 2025 Workers’ Bill of Rights campaign.

A Note
from Zev

My name is Zev Cook, and I’m running for office because, like many of you, I’ve seen how establishment politics has failed our working families as the cost of living continues to rise. I believe that true power for the kind of progressive change we need in Tacoma comes from the grassroots. We need city leadership that isn’t afraid to stand with the community in the face of major corporate interests. Right now, our entire city, especially the historically redlined and under-resourced neighborhoods of the Eastside and South End, is suffering from crumbling infrastructure and underfunded emergency services.

As your council representative, I will tackle these issues head-on by advocating for policies that put resources back into our community, lower the cost of living, and make life easier for everyone. A better future is possible, we just have to be willing to fight for it.
